It All Begins Here
Daley Farms started back in March of 2020. Two little girls asked their parents if they could have some chickens. This was at the beginning of Covid. We didn’t know what was going to happen in the coming weeks, sure why not? A man that Marcus worked with gave us his hen set up with eight laying hens around the same time that we bought 20 chicks and started converting our old pool deck into a chicken mansion. Our kiddos enjoyed those chickens so much. They loved playing with the chicks and the loved collecting eggs every day.
Soon our oldest asked if we could get a goat. Of course, we had to get two goats because you can’t get just one goat, they are herd animals. We started off with two bucks. Well what good are two bucks? You need does to have babies and our kids wanted babies. So next we added two does. From there things kind of got out of hand. There were ducks thrown in, at some point we got quail. Some friends were moving and needed us to take their goats, the more the merrier, right?
One night a few years ago, we decided to check out the local auction to see if we would want to buy or sell there. We had no intentions of buying that night. By the end of the night, Marcus felt bad that the kids had watched all of those animals go buy and did not get to bid on a single one, so he bid on a little bunny rabbit. He won! We brought home, Oreo. Our first pet rabbit.
At this point in time, we have more chickens and rabbits than we can count, 5 adult goats, 5 baby goats, 5 sheep, 5 ducks, 4 dogs, a cat and a sulcata tortoise.
